VISION
A hub for students, professors, and industry researchers.
The Astrobiology Society of America is a student centric organization created to provide a domain of open discussion and education. This includes approaches from disciplines such as biology, geology, chemistry, physics and planetary sciences related to the evolution of life on earth and in space. We aim to provide student resources, hold virtual discussion panels, and eventually establish student chapters at universities around the nation. We also look to collaborate with other similar organizations on large and diverse projects related to space education and innovation.
ABOUT
How It Begins.
We belong amongst the stars, surrounded by their dust and particles that make us what we are, human. We are living at the dawn of a golden age for space exploration. Many are starting to recognize that astrobiology is an interdisciplinary field that will bring us together, promote collaboration, and play a vital role in our future in space. There are millions of questions that need to be answered. How can we enhance our current ability to find exoplanets? What breakthroughs are being made in technology that will reshape our ability to expand throughout the galaxy? What research has yet to be done that is absolutely vital for deep space exploration? What will mars tell us? Are we alone? It's our job to find out the answers to these questions. Together as scientists, we can lay the foundation for generations to come. The ASA will be at the heart of bringing scientists together to unlock this future.
Board Members
President & CEO
Wesley R. Brown
Wes is an undergraduate student currently pursuing a B.S. in Geosciences with a minor in Molecular Biology. He's had aspirations of learning more about life in space from a very young age. This passion to understand our universe and the evolution of life led him to pursue a long-term goal of obtaining a Ph.D. in Astrobiology. The ASA was founded during his current journey of achieving that goal. After many attempts to find more available opportunities for involvement in the field of study, he noticed a lack of resources. Due to his previous experience with starting and organizing Non-Profit organizations, he came to realize that this was a chance for him to create those resources. Wes believes that there is a true need for a call of attention and collaboration to astrobiology, and he is willing to do whatever it takes alongside his education to ensure that call is answered.
